Xavier Vancassel

Dr Xavier Vancassel (PhD University of Strasbourg, 2003), currently heads the Engine Emissions and Environmental Impact research unit at ONERA, the French Aerospace Lab, in the Fundamental and Applied Energetics Department. He has been working on aviation emissions related projects since 2000. As a specialist in aircraft produced aerosol and atmospheric impact, he has been involved in many EU projects like PartEmis (2000-2003), on gas turbine particulate emissions, QUANTIFY (2005-2010), on aircraft near-field plume processes, in ECATS (2005-2010), SWAFEA (2009-2011) on alternative fuels for aviation, and more recently on FORUM-AE. He also coordinated national funded projects. His main research interests are nucleation processes in aircraft plumes, plume processes modelling, alternative fuel impacts and soot particle emission measurements.
