Jeanne Yu is the Director of Environmental Performance for Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

In her position she has responsibility for developing Environmental Performance strategy and ensuring current and future BCA products are environmentally progressive.  She leads the team responsible for the innovative ecoDemonstrator Program, a flight test program to accelerate technology implementation. Yu also leads programs for Design for Environment, Operational Efficiency, and Cabin Development.

In her previous position as senior manager, Environmental Performance Strategy, Yu led a team responsible for product development, environmental technology improvements for emissions and energy, noise, materials, airports, and cabin environment.   In addition, Jeanne was one of the key industry leaders at Boeing responsible for establishing the viability of sustainable Biofuel for use in commercial aircraft and in partnering with airlines to conduct flight tests with Biofuel blends.
Additional Boeing assignments have included leading the cabin environment strategy team to “provide a safe, healthy, comfortable cabin environment for passengers and crew” by working together on comprehensive fundamental research to pioneer technology advancements for the 787 Dreamliner.
Previously, Yu was a manager of Environmental Control Systems (ECS), responsible for air quality, fire protection systems and ECS certification.
Yu joined Boeing in 1989 as a systems engineer for 777 Engineering, where she worked on electrical and electronic equipment cooling, flight deck air distribution systems, and cargo heat and air conditioning.  Prior to joining Boeing in 1989, Yu worked as a thermal analyst at the Sandia National Laboratories.
Yu received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1984 and also holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering-Thermo Sciences from Stanford University and has been featured in Changing Our World - True Stories of Women Engineers.
